One of the things that I love about this time of year is the increasing activity of the Anoles in my back yard. Maybe it’s because of my fond memories of playing with now-threatened horned lizards as a kid.
This afternoon, one of them caught my eye. So, I grabbed my G10 to get a few snaps. Here are a few pictures that demonstrate their chameleonic behavior.
On this teak deck chair, he is a fairly dark brown.

I startled him, and he hopped onto the flagstone. His color is already beginning to change.

A quick hop to the wall covered in bougainvillea, and he is beginning to turn green to blend in with the leaves.

The color transition is complete.

Note: Kudos to Gus Mueller of Flying Meat for releasing the free Acorn plugin used to create the curved shadows in the embedded pictures.
